The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot” (Prov. 10:7 RSV).
“Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God; consider the outcome of their life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and for ever” (Heb. 13:7-8 RSV).
This tribute is both a homage to the memory of the late Apostle Enoch Ofori and a solemn commitment to carry on his life’s work—the preaching of the gospel in truth with signs and wonders following!
Apostle Ofori was indeed a “burning and shining light” as the Lord said of John the Baptist (John 5:35), and many of us rejoiced to bask in it until he was taken away after 40 years of dedicated service—1967 to 2007. A multi-talented man of God, Elder ministered to thousands as pastor, evangelist, healer, miracle worker, Bible teacher and prolific writer.
The history of the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies in Ghana is inextricably bound up with his call and ministry. Having overcome a firestorm of persecution from his father for his decision to heed the Lord’s call on his life to enter the ministry, Elder first founded a first-day Pentecostal Church called Christ Holy Church at Amakom in Kumasi in 1967. This church eventually metamorphosed into the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies in Ghana after his encounter with apostolic Biblical Christianity through his studies with the late Elder Garver C. Gray of the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies in USA.
Under his dynamic leadership, the Association of 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies in Ghana spread rapidly with many Assemblies opened in different parts of Ghana. In 2004, Elder took his gospel outreach programme to the Republic of Benin in West Africa, and established a mission there. His passion for evangelism never waned. As of his passing, he had over 150 tracts and booklets to his credit with more awaiting publication.
Enoch International Evangelism is a fitting tribute to his memory and ministry.
The Lord so remarkably used Apostle Ofori to give us so much insight into His truth that ‘woe is unto us if we do not preach the gospel’ (1 Cor. 9:16). Though he is gone, his good works follow him; his publications and taped messages continue to reach salvation seekers with
the saving truth.
On July 20, 2009, Apostle Ofori’s beloved wife, Sis. Grace Ofori, joined her husband in Paradise. They were married for 36 years.
His legacy endures: “The LORD knows the days of the blameless, and their heritage will abide for ever” (Ps 37:18). The Lord Jesus Christ who worked with and through Apostle Ofori yesterday is the same today among us and will be so forever. Amen!
