The Great Fallacy of Great Joy!

 By Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr

(Sabbath Sermon, 21st Dec., 2013)

The Big Fuss

It's a world festival with deep roots in the ancient past. It's a commercialized festival with religious overtones. It's a season in which shops are bursting with goodies and the streets are teeming with shoppers and window shoppers and, well, confidence tricksters as well. Radio and television stations broadcast distinctive mellifluous festive songs and commercials. Religious men, from street preachers to televangelists, shout from the rooftops the birth of the king and the upcoming commemoration of his birth. Images of the jolly old fellow, Father Christmas, decorate the fronts of shops and feature in TV ads, dressed, as always, in his red and white fur coat with a white beard to match.  Homes and offices are overflowing with provisions and presents. It's the Christmas festivity, and the atmosphere tells it.

The Witness of Nature

 By Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr

(Sabbath Sermon Sept. 14, 2013)

Imagine Drinking in the Serenity and Beauty of Eden

Do selective thinking and reflection.  Block out all unpleasant events, facts and experiences. Block out wars, block out poverty, block out sickness and death and block out pain. And the world is a beautiful place. Focus on the beauties of nature: the dazzling rays of the sun, flora and fauna, the soothing breezy air, the twinkling stars in the night sky, the shimmering orb called the moon, the azure of the sea and its rhythmic undulations.

He Feels our Pain

 By Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr

(Sabbath Sermon, 7th September, 2013)

A Loving God in a Loveless Generation

John 11:32-36

32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying unto Him, Lord, if Thou hadst been here, my brother [Lazarus] had not died.

33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, He groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,

34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto Him, Lord, come and see.

35 Jesus wept.

36 Then said the Jews, Behold how He loved him!

The Power of Conviction

 By Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr

(Sabbath Sermon, 28th October, 2013)

A Caged, Defeated Satan is your spiritual military Trophy

It sounds like make-believe but it's as real as the sun shining on a bright day. You are not a decorated officer. You are not a war hero. You have no military rank - not a Field Marshal, not a Sergeant, or a Captain or Warrant Officer Class I or II. But you are greater than all of history's military heroes and warriors. Because in Christ you are more than a conqueror!  You have overcome the universe's greatest villain, Satan!

The Compelling Love of Christ

 By Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr

(Sermon, 17th August, 2013)

"No Greater Love"

It's a love of a unique, unprecedented kind. "The love of Christ" for us. It's a love that meant His stripping Himself of all His divine honour, majesty, glory and prestige.  Stripping Himself of His heavenly throne and adulation and adoration as the Eternal Son of the King of the Universe and the WORD through whom all things were. And all that great sacrifice not for any greater selfish interest or benefit but to become like us; to share our humanness, our ill-fate, our poverty and, yes, our death. And when He came, born of the virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit, He came preaching glad tidings to the poor, recovery of sight to the blind, liberty to the captives, and the year of Yahweh's favour (Luke 4:18-19). But He was hated and persecuted by men, hounded and scourged by them and finally tied to a crude and cruel stake to die a slow cruel death (Isa. 53)

Barren Rejoice!

By Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr

(Sabbath Sermon, 19th October, 2013)

From Nothing to Life and Abundance

It's ageless past. What will later be called the universe is a vast empty space. Nothing moves. Nothing breathes. It's total silence. You could hear a pin drop! Suddenly from nowhere comes a jangling crashing sound, lights flash across in an iridescent display of brightness.  A mighty voice has roared across the vast emptiness of time 'Let there be'! Giant luminous orbs appear in the atmosphere, earth appears, light appears, sea is formed out of earth, vegetation appear, sea life appear, animals appear. Man appears made in the likeness of God Almighty.

The emptiness is bustling with life and goodness. The voice of the Creator has replaced nothingness with fulness, nonexistence with abundance of life. He will always be God:

The Kingdom of God is in Power

 By Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr

(Sabbath Sermon, 10th August, 2013)

A Beloved Church but Intractable!

The Church in Corinth was a church on which Paul expended much time and effort. He laboured hard and long to establish it and to nurture it. We know, for instance that, spurred on by a revelation from the Lord that He had “much people” in the city, he spent a whopping 18 months just laying the foundation of the church—making converts and getting it off the ground (Acts 18:1-11).
